The best horses in Ohio were back in action on Friday night as Scioto Downs hosted the Ohio Breeders stakes. The big money-winner of the evening was Chips And Wings, repeating his triumph last week in a division of the Ohio Governor’s Cup.

Chris Page steered the son of Chip Chip Hooray to victory in 1:57.2 as he hit the wire 3-1/2 lengths ahead of his rivals. The favored Jim Dailey Stable entry of Colby D and B Contemporary finished second and third, respectively. Ron Burke trains the winner.

Robinmeblind took the sophomore filly pace Ohio Breeders stake with a 1:54.3 effort for Jim Dailey, prevailing over Crosswinds Rose and Civil Shepherd. Sent off at 10-1 by the bettors, the winner sat behind the pacesetting favorite Forever Ivy, then pulled the pocket to win by 4-1/4 lengths for driver Jim Dailey. Mike Lee trains for owner Donald Williams.

Freshmen trotting colts contested two divisions of the Ohio Breeders stakes with Cool Colby rambling down the road to a gate-to-wire score in 1:58.4 for trainer-driver Jim Dailey. The son of Jailhouse Jesse, owned by Keith Ross and Kimberly Dailey, defeated Wolf Creek Ted and Lima Apollo.

The other division went to Jailhouse Scorpion with Russell Swartz in the bike for trainer Steve Carter. He tucked in behind American Pegasus leaving the gate, then assumed control in the third panel to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 2:00. Ohio Frontier was second and Thesultanoftrot picked up the show dough. The winner is owned by Peggy Carter, Sheila Hummel, Jacob Beard, and Robert Reid.

In other action at Scioto on Friday night, Whybabywhy was an easy winner in the Heart of Ohio Trot in 1:56.2 and Don’t Blame Her was a 1:53 winner in the Capital City Pace. (Scioto Downs)
