Published reports state backers behind a $600-million casino in Ohio to be built near I-71, halfway between Cincinnati and Columbus have submitted 763,000 signatures—more than double the amount required—to place the proposal on the statewide November ballot.
Expanding gaming has been turned down by Ohio voters three times, most recently in 2006 and prior to that in 1996 and in 1990. Part of the new ballot proposal is a stipulation that 30 percent of the projected $800 million annual gaming revenue would be divided among Ohio’s 88 counties based on population.
