Ohio casino plans leave out racetracks

Ohio’s seven tracks would reportedly be excluded from a casino proposal that is being discussed by two gaming companies. According to the Columbus Dispatch, Lakes Entertainment and Penn National Gaming have discussed a plan to put casinos in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Toledo. The two companies are joined by Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert and noted Cleveland businessman Jeff Jacobs.

 

Supporters said that the four casinos in urban areas would create economic development and job creation throughout the Buckeye State. Last fall Ohio voters turned down a proposal for a single casino to be built along I-71 near Wilmington.
