Ohio horseman Tom Tharps, 82, died Monday, Feb. 24. Mr. Tharps was a veteran horseman who raced mostly at Lebanon Raceway and Scioto Downs. In addition, Mr. Tharps was a veteran of the US Army.
Mr. Tharps's sons followed him into harness racing. He was preceded in death by his sons Todd and Trent; He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carole, of Lebanon; three sons, Eric (Shelli) of Kettring, Ohio, Randy of Washington, Pa. and Terry of Lebanon; two daughters, Toni Green of Lebanon and Tammi Tharps of Stone Mountain, GA; seven brothers; five sisters; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, with a funeral service immediately following, all at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon.
