KF St Patrick, Ohio's champion 2-year-old pacing colt of 2006, proved he will be a force to reckon with at three as he rolled to a 1:53 victory in Saturday nightâ's Open at Scioto Downs in just the second start of his sophomore season. Regular driver Russell Swartz was in the bike. Owned by Hank Kauffman and trainer Mike Medors, the Nobleland Sam colt scored by 4 3/4 lengths. Sent off the 2-5 choice in the field of eight, he paid $2.80 to win. He also won his seasonal debut in an Ohio Sire Stakes event at KF St Patrick was undefeated going into last year's $100,000 Ohio Sire Stakes final at Scioto on Ohio Super Night in early September, but was nailed on the wire by Noble Falcon. He rebounded from that defeat to wind up his freshman season with nine wins from 10 starts, and $107,249 in earnings en route to divisional honors.
