Thursday night's 13-race program at Scioto Downs kicks off the first of three nights of Ohio State Fair stakes races at the Columbus oval. It’s girls night at the track as 2- and 3-year-old trotting fillies will be in action along with freshman pacing lasses. Together they will compete in six events.

The action starts in the second race for first-season trotters when unbeaten Jesse’s Messenger goes from the outside post seven. She’s trotted in 2:01.1 this season and looks to be a strong favorite for trainer Kent Sherman and driver Ryan Stahl.

Freshman trotting fillies are in action again in the seventh race as the morning line favorite again has the outside post. Victory Is Coming will start from post eight for trainer-driver Ammon Hershberger against a well-balanced team of rivals.

Sophomore square-gaiters start their show in race five with the consistent Mocha Jo earning favorite status for trainer-driver Chip Noble. Rose Run Keepsake is expected to give the favored filly a stern challenge.

Get Chipped hopes to be the star of the show when the 3-year-old trotting fillies return in a second division in the ninth race. The Marty Wollam-trained lass has a 1:56.2f score and almost $42,000 in the bank this season.

Pacing fillies in their first season of racing go in the third and eighth races. Hawk’s Cry Electra, a daughter of Mantacular, rates the favorite’s spot in the third after two wins in two starts and a 1:56.2f clocking.

In the eighth race, Rub Thing and Upfront Cruiser may engage in a fierce duel as both fillies sport 1:57 marks in their first season. Chris Page will drive Rub Thing from post three while Upfront Cruiser and driver Chip Noble start just inside her in post two. (Scioto Downs)
