The Ohio Secretary of State has certified enough valid signatures by LetOhioVote.org so that a statewide referendum approving slots at the state's racetracks will appear on the Nov. 2 general election ballot.
Last April Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland approved slots at the tracks through his budget, but the state's Supreme Court later ruled that a referendum needed to be held.
Strickland still says that he will seek a ruling regarding whether the governor and Ohio Lottery Commission can put slots at the tracks without legislative approval or a referendum.
Last fall voters approved four free-standing casinos in the state via a referendum. Click here to read the Columbus Dispatch report on the gaming situation in Ohio.
