One Awesome Master was one awesome trotter Wednesday afternoon as the 3-year-old gelding romped to a 1:54.3 victory in the $43,376 Ohio Breeders Championship at the Delaware, Ohio fairgrounds. With Sam "Chip" Noble driving, One Awesome Master coasted to an easy score, equaling the track record and just missing the world record for sophomore geldings trotters on a half-mile track by one-fifth of a second.
One Awesome Master trotted fractions of :27.2, :56.2 and 1:25 before posting a final quarter of :29.3 under no urging from Noble. The time--a career best by one full second--just missed the world mark set by Define The World at Flamboro Downs just last Aug. 17.
Statile, Clairmont, Kaiser and Johnson own the winning son of Master Lavec. Robert Beauregard is the trainer. The win was his 11th in 15 starts this year.
