Not being eligible for this year's Breeders Crown, world champion One More Laugh will look to take down five other rivals in the final leg of the Kindergarten Classic on Saturday night at Vernon Downs. Trainer Ray Schnittker will be in the sulky behind the 2-year-old son of Mcardle-Fancy Creek Funny while usual pilot Tim Tetrick is in Canada looking for more Breeders Crown titles.
Coming off only the second loss of his career, One More Laugh sports a career record of eight wins and a second in 10 starts with the fastest mile in the history of harness racing on any size track for a 2 year old of 1:49.2. The mark came at Harrah's Chester in the $600,000 Governor’s Cup final, and thus far in 2009 One More Laugh has banked more than $549,000.
Another 2-year-old sensation early in her career is filly pacer Dancinwiththestarz from the John Stark Jr. Stable. The daughter of Four Starzzzz Shark-So Western is seven of 10 for her career with a mark of 1:52.4 taken in the $200,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes final at The Meadows. She has laid over the two fields she has faced thus far in preliminary legs of the Kindergarten Series winning by open lengths both times. She will leave from post position six in the third race on Saturday night.
Also on tap Saturday night are the last legs of the 2-year-old filly trot and 2-year-old colt and gelding trot. The Kindergarten Series wraps up on Halloween (Saturday, Oct. 31) with four divisional finals at Vernon Downs. Post time for Saturday night at Vernon Downs is 6:55 pm. (Vernon Downs)
