Mya Tri, racing away from her home state of Indiana for the very first time, saw her career unbeaten streak of 21 end Saturday afternoon at The Red Mile, with the 3-year-old filly trotter a non-factor sixth behind the winning One Tough Lass in the $14,000 Winbak Farms late-closer.
Driver Tim Tetrick rallied One Tough Lass off cover turning for home to easily rush past the leading Kentucky Sire Stakes champion Body Surfing and Ron Pierce for the 1:53.3 victory, with that one also unable to fend off Ohio Sire Stakes winner She's Not Red and Chip Noble for runner-up honors.
Mya Tri, with Walter Haynes Jr. driving, got away sixth and never got into the flow of the race, settling for a sixth-place finish. The Indiana Sire Stakes champion won all 11 of her starts last year and was a perfect 10-for-10 in 2008 until she crossed the border into the Bluegrass State on Saturday.
As for One Tough Lass, the time was a career best for the daughter of Muscles Yankee trained by Ross Croghan for owners Jon Erdner and William Neumeister. The win was her fourth in 10 starts this year, increasing her career eranings to $151,467.
