Return Home
May 24, 2008 | Print View

Casie Coleman and Mark MacDonald teamed up to sweep the Ontario Sire Stakes Gold eliminations at Western Fair on Friday, May 23.  The two $40,000(C) eliminations for three-year-old pacing fillies went to Chancey Lady and A Fiesty Affair, both by Camluck.

Chancey Lady took the first elimination in 1:55.1 after sitting fourth and pulling before the three-quarter pole.  Posting a :27.4 last quarter, Chancey Lady edged out Onyx Killean (Keith Oliver) and Call Me Yours (Jody Jamieson), both by one and a half lengths.

Owned by Niele Jiwan of British Columbia, Chancey Lady now has career earnings over $384,000.  Last year Chancey Lady won the Gold Super Final.

A Fiesty Affair won her elimination in 1:54.4 in her second start of the season.  Leaving from the three hole, A Fiesty Affair went straight to the front and never let go of the lead.  At the :55.3 half, she was 10 lengths ahead of the rest of the field.  Shipps Bikini (Don McElroy) posted a :28.4 last quarter to just miss taking the win.  Belka Hanover (Mike Langdon) held on for third.

Robert Hamather of Ontario bred and owns A Fiesty Affair, who has now made over $136,000 lifetime.  She took her best mark of 1:52.1 in October at Mohawk.

The $140,000(C) Gold Final will be held next Friday, May 30.
