February 20, 2010 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Mr Coolie was a repeat winner while Topcornerterror captured the other division in Saturday night’s second leg of the Ontario Boys Pacing Series for 4-year-olds at Woodbine Racetrack.

Mr Coolie, who converted from a pocket trip in leg one of the series, rallied from off the pace on Saturday for driver Mike Saftic to score in 1:53. The son of No Pan Intended - Armbro Vertical was 1-1/4 lengths better than Ponder Seelster with Lookin For A Fight closing from well
back to finish third.

Despite winning in the opening leg, Mr Coolie was let go at odds of almost 7-1 for trainer Gregg McNair who co-owns along with Ian Flemming. The colt entered the series without a victory
in nine career tries prior to his two consecutive wins.

In the second split, Topcornerterror, who did not compete in the first leg, converted from a perfect pocket trip for driver Mario Baillargeon to win in 1:53.2. The son of Western Terror - Almahurst Dandy bested the pacesetting Tapioca Blues by 1-1/4 lengths with Justalittleluck
finishing another length back in third.

Topcornerterror returned $5.60 as the second choice while notching his second win in eight tries this season for trainer Ben Wallace who co-owns along with James and Bruce Pearson of Ontario. The lion’s share of the $20,000 purse boosted his career bankroll to just over $89,000.

The $60,000 Ontario Boys Series final will go postward next Saturday night from Woodbine. (WEG)
