The Ontario Racing Commission announced Thursday that it has suspended the race licenses of three individuals as it investigates the deaths of two racehorses on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The owner-trainer licenses of Jason E. Robertson, Chantell L. Robertson, and Brittany M. Robertson, all of Sudbury, Ont., were suspended after an investigation revealed that the pacers Bensalem and HBF's Slapshot died at the Robertson farm and both had been admistered substances intravenously before they died.
Bensalem was a 4-year-old gelded son of Mannart Howard who had a mark of 1:57.1f and earnings of $26,467. HBF's Slapshot was an 8-year-old gelded son of Native Born who had a mark of 1:55.1h and earnings of $107,467.
