It was no surprise in the Governor’s Cup eliminations Saturday at Woodbine – Dali took the first elim in 1:51.1. Santanna Blue Chip pulled a mild upset in the second elim with a 1:51.4 victory. Luc Ouellette put Dali to the front after the quarter, letting Four Starz Moxie and Legacy N Diamonds battle to a :26.2 opening time. There was no contest and the Real Artist colt was alone for most of the mile. Going first over the first half of the mile, Roberts Rage and Jody Jamieson finished a strong second and Its That Time and John Campbell got up for third. Pacesetter Lennon Blue Chip (Luc Ouellette) set fractions of :27, :56 and Santanna Blue Chip, by Art Major, is owned by Carl Jamieson, 1140545 Ontario Ltd, Jeffrey Gillis and the George Arthur Stable. Never finishing worse than third, Santanna Blue Chip boasts a 9-3-4-2 performance record and over $225,000 in earnings.
The $600,000 Governor's Cup Final for two-year-old colt and gelding pacers will be held on Saturday, October 27th.
