Oullette returns to driving action

Return Home
August 12, 2008 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Driver Luc Ouellette will return to competition this week at Mohawk after missing just over a month due to a fracture in his left arm that was sustained in a racing accident at Flamboro Downs on July 11.

Ouellette had surgery on the arm on July 19 to insert a plate and screws to aid with the healing, and it has been a success.

“I schooled a few horses last week, and I didn’t have any pain,” Ouellette said. “I was supposed to do the same thing on Monday morning at Mohawk, but then I thought that if I felt good enough to go behind the gate in schoolers that I should go to the doctor to see if he thought I could go back to work full-time instead. I was fortunate enough to get in and see him at 2:00 p.m. and he gave me the all-clear to return.

“The sheet has already been made for Thursday at Mohawk, but I might pick up a drive or two and then look for more work over the weekend when everyone knows I am back,” Ouellette added.

Ouellette, who was fourth in the driver standings on the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit when he was injured, has remained in that spot despite the time missed, and he is also only 32 wins away from joining harness racing’s 8,000 win club. (WEG)
