After suffering a rare defeat in the final of this year's Don Mills Series on Feb. 11, Windsun Lane rebounded with an electrifying off-the-pace win in Thursday night's opening leg of the General Brock Trotting Series for 4 year olds at Woodbine Racetrack.

Not even the outside post 10 could stop the gelded son of Lindy Lane who rallied from seventh at the three-quarters to win under wraps by 3 1/4 lengths in 1:55.4. Rick Zeron, who co-owns and also trains, engineered the victory which was Windsun Lane's fourth of the season in just five tries.

The lion's share of the $18,000(C) purse boosted his career bankroll to more than $135,000. Zeron shares ownership along with Springhill Trading Inc. of Ontario.

In the opening division, Enny Youngman turned in a sharp two-move effort to score for Mario Baillargeon in 1:55.1, the fastest of the three splits.

The gelded son of Enjoy Lavec has now won two of seven starts this season for trainer Ben Baillargeon who co-owns along with C Tremblay Holdings Inc. of Brossard, Qc. The victory boosted his career bankroll to just over $100,000.

It was the girl beating the boys in the night's final division as Letsjusttalkaboutme converted from an off-cover trip for driver Mike Saftic in 1:56.1. It was the first win of the campaign for the Rene Laarman-trained daughter of Self Possessed who is owned by Mel Hartman of Ottawa, Ont.

The General Brock Trotting Series will continue next Thursday night from Woodbine. (WEG)
