Pacific Mariner romps

Pacific Mariner turned in another convincing effort and captured the $52,000 ( C ) final of the Autumn Series at Woodbine Saturday night by seven lengths over Haulin Oars in 1:51.3. Almost Gunned Down was third.



Driver Luc Ouellette brushed Pacific Mariner to the lead at the :55.2 half and from there the 3-year-old gelded son of Astreos was in complete command. The three-quarters was passed in 1:23.1 and with a :28.2 final panel Pacific Mariner drew off to complete his sweep of the series for Ontario sired horses. He won his first leg by 2 1/4 lengths and last week’s second leg by 5 3/4 lengths.



The victory was the ninth in 17 starts this year for Pacific Mariner, who is owned by Shady Hill Racing Stable and Charles Muylaert and trained by Kevin McMaster.
