Pacific Philly wins Mares Open Handicap in 1:52.4

Pacific Philly, Touched By Ted and Shesa Troublemaker registered wins in the lucrative top three distaff events on the Tuesday card at Dover Downs.

In the $33, 000 Mares Open/Handicap headliner, Eddie Davis Jr. pulled out of third at the quarter and steered Pacific Philly into the lead before the clubhouse turn then sped to her second straight victory in 1:52.4. Nidya A and Ross Wolfenden took second money with Dream-A-While, handled by Art Stafford Jr. was the third-place horse. Tim Torbert trains the Pacific Fella 6 year old for Robert Messick. He's a winner of two races and a second in five 2008 starts. Ladyfield was scratched.    

Tony Morgan won his third race on the card using the passing lane behind Ricky Pryor's Shesa Troublemaker in a 1:5 3.3 success in the third of three $25,000 Mares Winners-Over pace. Besmitten By A Vet stormed down the lane for Tim Curtin to finish second with Love And Lust N third for Brandon Givens.

Touched By Ted won her second in a row and sixth in her last seven starts as Tim Tetrick drove the Katja Schrevogel-owned Artiscape mare to victory in 1:52.4 in the $25,000 Mares Winners-Over pace. Fritzie Bunnie and Mike Cole were the runner-up with Bikini Bottom with Eric Goodell, the third finisher.

Esther Bier's homebred Riley Rose showed her class holding off Hopefull N (Vic Kirby) in a stretch duel to score a 1:54 victory. Jim King drove the 5 year old by Real Artist to the win in a $16,500 Mares pace. CB Star (Tony Morgan) was third.

In the first deadheat for win this year, Wes Nolan's Exotic Moves and Jim Morand caught up to Ozmopolitan with Tim Tetrick driving for Mike Casalino and trainer Dylan Davis in the final step in a 1:53.4 mile. Tug River Aussie (Vic Kirby) was a head back in third.

Tim Tetrick guided Kathleen Weller's Famed Artist to a 1:54 win in a $20,000-$25,000 Mares Claiming Allowance pace. Mapua Magic N (Corey Callahan) closed with a rush to within a nose of the winner. SA Cheerleader (Eric Goodell) took third money.

Roger Plante moved Staying Power to the outside after the half and followed the cover of Play For Real (Ross Wolfenden) until the final turn. Staying Power then beat Play For Real to the finish line by a half-length in 1:54.3 for Plante's second win of the night and completed an owner-trainer double for William Moffett.  Fox Valley Glitz (Eric Goodell) picked up the show.

John Hurtgen's Lydia Hall and Tim Curtin made the winner's circle after three seconds and a third in four previous races with a 1:56 triumph in a $10,000 4&5-Year-Old Mares pace. Florist (Ben Stafford Jr.) came on for second in front of Deborah And Barak (Tim Tetrick). (Dover Downs)
