The 7-5 favorite, Joe Page, pounced from mid-pack to catch a flagging Southwind Rew and win the $47,500(C) Ontario-sired Autumn Series final for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings Monday evening at Woodbine. Leaving from post four, Rick Zeron settled Joe Page into a stalking position in the middle of the pack while Mr. Go and Tom Strauss bore the brunt of a nasty winter wind, up front, with Red Zeppelin and Roger Mayotte riding the pocket through fractions of :27.1 and :57.1. At the half-mile marker, Sylvain Filion put elimination winner, Southwind Rew, into motion, and opened up a four-length lead by the
Southwind Rew hung on for second, with Striking Rich and Trevor Ritchie grabbing the show spot. Joe Page, a son of Mr. Lavec, is trained by Tony Montini for Joseph Cicatello and Michael Rashkin of Hamburg, N.Y. He was unraced as a 2 year old.
