Three divisions of the Romola Hanover for sophomore filly pacers were carded Saturday, August 5 at The Meadows. When the dust settled driver Dave Palone finished three-for-three with his mounts, including a new stakes record performance.

In the first $33,003 split Palone and Western Wisdom took command of the field the first time by the grandstand and never looked back, winning in 1:53.2. The Chris Ryder-trained Western Hanover filly turned away Fionavar Hanover and Three Men Dreamin in the victory. Unraced at two, Western Wisdom notched her sixth win in nine starts this season while raising her earnings to more than $85,000. She is owned by Deena Frost, TLP Stable, Sampson Street Stables and Jerry Silva.

The second division saw Yankee Prestige pace to a 1:54.1 performance under the guidance of Palone. Starting from post three the duo raced fourth early on before moving second up behind Heavenly Beauty. Palone tipped the Western Hanover filly in the stretch on the way to defeating Heavenly Beauty and Hug Me. Yankee Prestige is owned by Robert Kauffman of Wellington, Fla., and trained by Peter Foley. The victory was the third in nine outings this season, lowering her lifetime best by two-fifths of a second.

In the third and final division 1-2 favorite Pilgrims Witchie dominated the field with a 1:52 mile. The time established a new stakes record, two-fifths better than the previous mark. Driven by Palone for trainer Abram Stoltzfus, The Panderosa sophomore collected her sixth win of the season and moved her 2006 earnings over the $100,000 mark. Maremma Hanover finished second and Armbro Davina was third.
