For two consecutive seasons Park’em Out Missy has been among Monticello Raceway’s best pacing mares. After earning $51,179 here during the 2006 campaign this season the 6-year-old daughter of Park Place has amassed a $62,000 bankroll for the Durazzano Stable Associates, an amount which was bolstered by a 1:56.2 victory in the track's weekly $10,200 Mare’s Preferred Pace on Monday.
That victory--her sixth of the season--came right on the heels of a 1:55.4 triumph against similar competition the previous Monday.
Trained by April Aldrich and driven by her husband, Bruce Aldich Jr., Park’em Out Missy rallied in the deep stretch to overtake the pacesetter Sexy Kim (Stephane Bouchard) and then hold off a late charge from Natural Woman N and driver Jimmy Devaux. After leaving the gate from the four hole Aldrich put Park’em Out Missy down along the pylons in fourth position and at the half she was still six lengths behind the leader Sexy Kim. As they passed the half-mile marker Aldrich moved Park’em Out Missy to the outside and up to challenge the leader and the two mares were neck and neck as they passed the three-quarters in 1:27.2. They were nose to nose in the final turn before Perk’em Out Missy forged to the front and went on to a one-length triumph. “She’s been very good all season long,” Aldrich said of Park’em Out Missy after their victory. “The best part is that she can race from behind or on top and ‘Missy’ always gives her all. She’s especially good right now and maybe the best pacing mare on the grounds at this time.” Park’em Out Missy’s seasonal record of 1:55.3 was taken on Aug. 13. It is also her lifetime mark.
