Pennsylvania Sire Stakes champion Dancinwiththestarz leads a field of 10 freshman pacing fillies on Saturday night at Vernon Downs in a $10,000 leg of the Kindergarten Classic. John Stark Jr. trains the 2-year-old daughter of Four Starzzzz Shark–So Western for W Springtime Stable and Shannon Brott of New York.
Dancinwiththestarz has won six of her nine seasonal starts with a mark of 1:52.4 in her last outing where she captured the $200,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes final with Brian Sears at The Meadows on Sept. 29. Despite not racing for over three weeks Dancinwiththestarz looks to be the class of the field and Stark has listed James Stevens on the driving assignment. However, the duo will have to overcome starting in the second tier, post position 10 in the evening’s fourth event.
The freshman pacing colts drew nine contestants for the $10,000 leg scheduled for race number six on the card. Tracy Brainard and Mark Ford both have entries. Ford sends out Fulfilled who is a half brother to pacing sensation Ponder, and Eagle Jolt from post positions one and four, respectively.
Brainard sends out Little Gold Ring and Western Thorn for Bulletproof Enterprise. Fulfilled has posted two wins in his 11-race career, both coming in divisions of the Kindergarten Classic, one at Tioga Downs on Aug.2 and the latest at Vernon Downs on Sept. 19. He comes into the race posting two wins, two seconds, and three thirds with more than $37,000 in earnings and a mark of 1:53.3 at Vernon Downs.
Chris Lems has been listed on the driving assignment for Fulfilled, while William Bailey has been listed on the second half of the Ford-trained entry Eagle Jolt. Fulfilled leads the standings heading into Saturday night’s events, but Ray Schnittker, who trains world champion One More Laugh, has confirmed that he will be at Vernon Downs next weekend racing in the final leg and aiming towards the Kindergarten Classic final on Saturday, Oct. 31.
