Passionate Glide to Hambo?

Might Passionate Glide take on the colts in the Hambletonian? Here's what trainer Jimmy Takter has to say about the filly's talent: "It depends how the Stanley Dancer goes, but right now I have no doubt she could go with anything [in the colt division]," said Takter. "She reminds me of Moni Maker in the early stages. She’s got that same determination and she’s a lot stronger now. Her owner, George Segal, will ultimately make the decision whether she’ll face the boys.”

A pair of Jimmy Takter-trained colts will be among the 22 trotters competing Friday night for 10 spots in the $375,000 Stanley Dancer Memorial Final on July 15 at the Meadowlands. The Dancer will showcase many of the hopefuls for the $1.5 million Hambletonian. Passionate Glide will be competing this weekend in the Delvin Miller Memorial for fillies.

Passionate Glide, who has won all three of her starts this year and carries a four-race winning streak, has been worse than second only once in 14 career starts. She is the morning line even-money favorite in Friday’s seventh race, the first of two $25,000 elims for the $375,000 Delvin Miller final which will be on July 14. Takter also sends out Flamingo Bingo in the second Miller elim, the eighth race.

“Passionate Glide is just an exceptional horse,” said Takter, who has raced some of best trotters in the world. “She’s a really special filly. She keeps feeling better and better."

Takter trained the incomparable Moni Maker who was Horse of the Year in 1999 and 2000 and was Trotter of the Year from 1998 through 2000.

Thus far Passionate Glide has banked $750,447 for her owner-breeder, Brittany Farms of Versailles, Kentucky. The divisional champion as Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year in 2005, Passionate Glide, she won the $473,884 Goldsmith Maid at Woodbine and the $516,800 Breeders Crown at the Meadowlands last fall.
