March 10, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Horsemen are reminded that the following sustaining payments to the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes must be postmarked by this Wednesday, March 15.

Two-year-old sustaining payments falling on March 15 are $150 for the pari-mutuel Sire Stakes and $25 for fair events. It should be stressed that in order to maintain future eligibility for the Sire Stakes' respective events, these payments must be made for the desired division (p/m and/or fair) – even if the horse is not likely to race until age three.

There is also a March 15 $500 payment for three-year-olds to maintain eligibility to the Sire Stakes pari-mutuel division.

Payments should be made to the PA Sire Stakes, 2301 N Cameron Rm 301, Harrisburg PA 17110. The Pennsylvania Sire Stakes (and the Pennsylvania Harness Breeders Fund) are administered by the PA Harness Commission; any questions can be directed to Jerry Connors at 717 787 5539 or gconnors@state.pa.us.

Breeders are reminded that if they want their PA-sired foals of 2006 to be eligible to generate breeders awards at the higher level of payment, they need to send in paperwork detailing the 180 days (including foaling) in which the mare will reside in Pennsylvania. ("Non-resident" mares' foals will also be eligible to generate breeders awards, but at a lower level.)

Also, all breeders of PA-sired horses aged two to five that will race in Pennsylvania this year should have their information, including tax number, on file with the commission in order to collect Breeders Awards based on the racing of 2006.

For the necessary paperwork, or for answers to Breeders Fund questions, contact Jerry Connors via the methods described above.
