Owner-trainer-driver James Scarpias, 26, of Massapequa Park, NY, who had been qualifying horses at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, has been suspended indefinitely by the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission after several containers of EPO were found during a search of his vehicle.
Anton Leppler, Deputy Director for Harness Racing for the Commission, said that “Other than verifying that the horseman was suspended for having EPO, we have no further comment at this time, as this is still an ongoing investigation.”
