Pat Berry won his 1,000th career race at Balmoral Park Tuesday night, reaching the milestone with the pacing mare Monterey in the eighth race. Berry, 29, left the gate quickly with Monterey, yielded the lead nearing the half, but retook and opened up a six-length advantage turning for home, a margin he kept while crossing the finish line in 1:51.
