(Joie De Vie) was looking for somebody and I got lucky and got that job,” said Buer. “I started with four horses the first year, 10 the second year, and then between 15 and 20 every year.” Buer remained with Joie De Vie until last year when he went to work for Lindy Farms. Ironically, the man who replaced him at Joie De Vie, Oyvind Hegdal, is the Norwegian under whom Buer got his start.
