The first sustaining payments for this year's editions of the Charles and Helen Smith Trots are due by Feb. 15.
The fee is $200 for the Charles Smith open and $200 for the Helen Smith for fillies. Both stakes, restricted to 3-year-old New Jersey-sired trotters, are sponsored by the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey.
The $60,000 (est.) Helen Smith final is scheduled for Sept. 6 and the $80,000 (est.) Charles Smith on Sept. 20, both at Freehold. (SBOANJ)
