Peaceful Way done for year

Trotting mare Peaceful Way, the 2005 Dan Patch Award winner as the best in her division, has finished racing for the year and will take several months off before resuming training in February.

Joe Myers, one of the mare’s owners, said Peaceful Way was resting at Perretti Farms in New Jersey after being examined by a vet. The horse finished eighth and ninth in her two most recent Classic Series races after winning the Allerage Farm and Maple Leaf Trot. She won five of 11 starts this season and earned $709,763.

Trained by Dave Tingley, the 5-year-old daughter of Angus Hall has won 33 of 46 races and earned $2.7 million in her career.

“We were concerned because she hadn’t been herself,” Myers said. “There was nothing major wrong with her, just the wear and tear of those miles caught up with our little girl. The vet recommended two to three months of layoff time. After that, she’ll go back to Dave and start training again.”

In addition to Myers’ Goin My Way Stable, the other owners of Peaceful Way are Tingley, Angie Stiller, Marvin Katz, Al Libfeld and Sam Goldband. (HRC)
