Peaceful Way in Matchmaker

July 14, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Peaceful Way [$2.20, $2.10] powered to a 1:52.4 victory in the $100,000 Perretti Farms Matchmaker Trot for older mares Friday night at the Meadowlands. Driven by Trevor Ritchie, Peaceful Way made the lead before the half and took advantage of a third-quarter breather before pulling away to a 4 1/2--length victory over her entrymate Ticket To Glide [$2.20, $2.10]. Ecstatic was third.

There was no show wagering on the third race.

Ritchie said once Peaceful Way got a breather, he was confident she would win. "That's her trait," Ritchie said of Peaceful Way. "If she has any sort of breather in the mile, once she gets to the head of the stretch it's just automatic. I don't have to ask her to go forward."

Prior to Friday night, Peaceful Way's last start at the Meadowlands was a victory in the $250,000 Classic Series Final on July 30, 2005. The two-time Older Trotting Mare of the Year has won three of her four starts this season. Lifetime, she has $2,224,805 in earnings and a record of 31 wins in 39 starts. David Tingley trains and shares ownership of the five-year-old daughter of Angus Hall with Goinmyway Stable, Marvin Katz, Sam Goldband, Al Libfeld and Angie Stiller.

The winner of the Perretti Matchmaker receives a free breeding to one of Perretti Farm's trotting stallions: Muscles Yankee, Windsong's Legacy or Revenue. Owner Marvin Katz indicated they would breed Peaceful Way to Muscles Yankee when she retires from racing. (Meadowlands press release)
