Perretti Farms will be offering its final consignments at this year's Standardbred Horse Sales auctions in Harrisburg, Pa., in November. The New Jersey breeding farm is holding its final dispersal, selling yearlings, broodmares and weanlings.
"It's been a great run,” said Perretti's Bob Marks. "We've bred great horses and had some wonderful sires that have influenced the breed. You can't say enough about our studs Matt's Scooter, Muscles Yankee and Rocknroll Hanover, who unfortunately died too young earlier this year.”
The Perretti Farms property in New Jersey has been listed for sale for more than a year. The farm is owned by Bill Perretti, who celebrated his 86th birthday this year. Perretti has been racing the Thoroughbred Forty Tales and recently bought a couple of yearlings at the Keeneland sale, but he presently has no plans to develop a large Thoroughbred operation, either racing or breeding.
Also, no plans have yet been made for Perretti's stallions. Muscles Yankee is now 18 years old while the first crop by trotting sire Lucky Chucky are yearlings. Muscles Yankee and Lucky Chucky both stood at stud at a Perretti annex in Pennsylvania this year. At the recent Morrisville Yearling Sale in New York, a Lucky Chucky colt topped the sale at $59,000.--harnessracing.com
