American Peter Gerry took his best shot in his first driving appearance at Hippodrome de Vincennes in Paris, France, on Saturday afternoon, but his horse broke stride and he was disqualified. Gerry, who has competed in the CKG Billings Amateur Series for years, drove in the Prix de Saint-Claude
Gerry drove the 9-year-old gelding Quariace Stop from the stable of Anders Lindquist. The race started behind a conventional American-style starting gate, but with 16 horses in the race and a slow starter in front of him in the first tier, he got away near the back of the field. Gerry made a move in the 2,100 race, but then his horse tired and broke stride, which is cause for automatic disqualification in French trotting.
