Overcoming a slow start, odds-on choice Photoforwin won the $100,000 William Connors Memorial 3-Year-Old Colt Trot final Saturday night at Hazel Park, reaching the wire in 1:57.4 for trainer, driver and owner Rick Beinhauer.

Leaving from the outside post position in the field of eight, Photoforwin spotted the field a couple of lengths at the start, but Beinhauer quickly sent the son of SJ's Photo on a mission toward the top. Pushed three wide briefly, Photoforwin steadily worked his way forward on the outside, taking the lead past the tempo-setting Rompaway Beau (Don Harmon) shortly after the opening quarter of :30 was reached.

Photoforwin reached the half in :59.4 and three-quarters in 1:28.2 as Senator Hall (Brad Kramer) mounted a brief, first-over bid. Photoforwin kept a clear ;ahead of runner-up Kibbutz Dream, who was tipped from third in mid-stretch by driver Jean Pierre Dubois. Rompaway Beau held for third.

Last year's runner-up in the $478,113 William Wellwood Memorial final, Photoforwin arrived at Hazel Park for the July 4 Connors elims off a career-best 1:55.1 victory in the Goodtimes consolation at Mohawk. He romped to an 8 1/2-length win in his Connors elim, and was sent off the prohibitive favorite in the final.

Photoforwin is out of the Sierra Kosmos mare Sierra Belle, who won the 2002 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes championship. He is owned and bred by Rick and Regina Beinhauer of Venetia, Pa. The win in the race named for the late Hall of Fame race secretary was Photoforwin's fourth of the year in 12 starts, increasing his career earnings to $325,580.
