Photo Maxx faces six in Dover Open

Photo Maxx, a winner of two of his last three $26,000 Open Handicap trots, faces Starsel and Libra Vita, previous winners, in the Wednesday, Jan. 12 feature at Dover Downs.  An $18,000 trot the under-card. First post is at 4:30 p.m.

Lauren Allen’s Photo Maxx with Mike Cole at the controls won last week and drew post 1 this time. Howard Taylor and Tom Lazzaro’s Libra Vita closed from far back to finish second with Corey Callahan driving last Wednesday. Cold Winner, racing for Dawn Gannon, Frank Canzone and driver Yannick Gingras, was third.

The rest of the quality field includes Glenn DelRusso, Charles Dombeck and trainer-driver Daryl Bier’s Starsel, Jeff Bartels’ The Budster with Tim Curtin handling the reins, plus Pam Wagner and Scott Woogen’s Lolique steered by John Wagner fresh from two straight qualifying wins and Hezahummer, Eric Goodell driving for Baron Racing and trainer Josh Green, a first time local starter from post 7.

There are seven starters in the $18,000 Winners-Over trot. George and Janette Hobbs’ Road Rash (Yannick Gingras), Bob Key’s Foggy Lane K (Eric Goodell) and Arty Foster’s Commando K (Vic Kirby) make their first local start this meet going against Steve Anderson’s Sea Raven (Ron Pierce), William Moffett Inc.’s Good Feeling (Ross Wolfenden) George Fulcher’s Counsel (Brad Hanners) and Nice Dream leaves from the rail for owners Nanticoke Racing and driver Jim Morand.
