Pick 7 at $500G Plus

Return Home
December 10, 2004 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The Pick 7 at Woodbine Friday night will begin with a whopping carryover of $586,090. More than $450,000 was bet into the pool Thursday night and after reasonably-priced horses won the first four legs, the bettors' hopes were dashed when Carafe Du Haras won the seventh-race fifth leg and returned $114.10.

After wins by horses at odds of 2-1, 7-1. 5-1 and 4-1, Mario Baillargeon drove Carafe Du Haras to the 56-1 upset victory, nosing out the 6-1 Hilarious Dream in a career-best (by 4 4/5th seconds) 1:54.1. Horses at odds of 4-1 and 2-1 won the final two legs but it didn't matter as all the perfect tickets were blown out of the water. However, anyone that picked six of the seven winners collected a nice payoff of $13,310.75.

The Pick 7 requires bettors to correctly select the winners of races three through nine. If there are no winning tickets, 25 percent of the net pool is paid out to the ticket holder(s) with the most correct winners, and the balance is then carried over to begin the next day's Pick 7.
