PJ Clark established a new track record for a 4-year-old trotting stallion Tuesday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in winning the featured trot of the week in 1:53.
Previous track mark was 1:53.3 and owned by Snazzy Hot Rod (Tim Tetrick). The date for this mile was April 22, 2008.
Laura Shock trains PJ Clark, a 4-year-old son of Broadway Hall owned by the Hauser Brothers Racing Enterprises LLC, Orangeburg, NY.
Driver Jim Morrill Jr. left out of the four hole to assume the lead with the opening split timed in :27.4 before Springboard (Jim Taggart Jr.) became the new leader at the half, clicked off in :58.4. But it was PJ Clark taking the nine-horse field to the three-quarter pole in 1:24 and winning the race by 2 1/4 lengths over Shibboleth Hanover (David Ingraham) and 4 1/4 lengths over third-place finisher Badboy Paparazzi A (Mike Simons).
This was the seventh win in 21 starts this season for PJ Clark, who now has earnings of more than $100,000 for the second straight year. (Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs)
