Earlier this week Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick said he would not support a legislative plan to allow slots at the state's racetracks. Now Plainridge Racecourse has layed off nearly 160 employees and contractors, and blames the governor's stance as causing unemployment in the state.
“He took a position contrary to the overwhelming support of the Legislature and now families we’ve employed for years are wondering where their next paycheck will come from,” said Plainridge CEO Gary Piontkowski.
The layoffs were reported in Wednesday's Boston Herald. Click here to read the entire story.
