Longtime horse owner John Polvinale of New Jersey was the winning bidder on the Glidemaster auction on eBay to benefit the Clyde Hirt Journalism Workshop.
Polvinale won a one-of-a-kind print autographed by drivers John Campbell and George Brennan, who guided Glidemaster to the Triple Crown, and trainer Blair Burgess. The print commemorates Glidemaster's Horse of the Year honor. The auction package also included shoes worn by Glidemaster and gloves from Campbell.
“The workshop is indeed an asset to this great business that we are a part of,” said Polvinale, who won with a bid of $822. “I recently constructed a home and was contemplating a theme for the interior. Well, it didn’t take long to come up with the idea of having a complete horse-themed home. I’m pleased to add this great moment in racing and have a special place to display it.” Now preparing for its sixth year, the Hirt Workshop provides college students with the opportunity to cover the Hambletonian while working with professionals in their field of interest. Students have stories about the race published in newspapers across the country and online.(HRC)
