Due to the recent case of Streptococcus Equine (Strangles) at Pompano Park Harness Track, no horses from that facility will be allowed to enter the backstretch at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino. One case of the very contagious disease was confirmed Wednesday, June 4 in the stable area at the Pompano Park, Fla. facility. Management officials at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino determined that effective immediately, no horses will be accepted at the track that are currently stabled at Pompano Park. This ban will be in effect for the remainder of the Standardbred season in 2008. The Standardbred season runs through Saturday, July 12. (Hoosier Park)
