Poppy Lustre N, last season's Horse of the Meet, returned to winning form in the $26,000 Filly and Mare Open pace on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Dover Downs. Sixteen Candles and Pacific Filly won sub-features. Tim Tetrick moved closer to the all-time single season dash win record with five wins.

After finishing second, beaten only a neck, in last week's feature, Poppy Lustre N was overlooked in wagering and left the gate at 8-1 odds. Mike Cole put the Direct Flight 6 year old into the lead and she stayed there, fending off a strong challenge from last Tuesday's winner, Ladyfield, reined by Tony Morgan, to score a neck victory in 1:51.2. Nanny Withafanny and Corey Callahan got up for third. Poppy Lustre N now has won eight times this year for owners Wendy Crissman of Camden, and Ricky Pryor of Dover, Del., and has earned $195,040 in 2007.

Sixteen Candles, a 4 year old by Tune Town from Bob Kinsey and Bill Oberle Jr.'s broodmare, Bristol Stomp, was first with a bullet in the first of two $16,500 Filly and Mare Winners-Over paces. Driven by Bob Kinsey Jr., Sixteen Candles found room halfway down the lane and flew past the leaders to fashion an easy 1:53.2 score, her fifth win of the year. Western Miss (Ross Wolfenden) and Bay Express N (Corey Callahan) were second and third respectively.

The sport's leading dash win driver Tim Tetrick notched a five-bagger to go with six wins the previous day. In a five-distaff finish, Tetrick and Warren Racing Stable, of Harrington's SA Cheerleader emerged for a 1:53.1 victory in a $12,000 pace for females. The Dylan Davis' trained 6 year old by Village Jiffy, edged Four Winds N (Mike Cole0, second and fast finishing Jay Low (Roger Plante), third, for the win.

Eddie Davis Jr. left quickly with Pacific Filly and cut out all the fractions in a 1:52.3 triumph in a $16,500 Filly and Mare Winners-Over pace for owner Bob Messick. Race favorite The Queen Of Trash (Jim Morand) was runner-up with Philadelphia (Roger Plante) taking show money.

Driver Jim Morand and trainer Brian Wessells posted doubles during the night. (Dover Downs)
