Beginning March 1 and continuing with just one exception through Oct. 28, post times at Monticello Raceway will be at 12:50 pm. The exception occurs on Saturday night, July 3, when post time will be at 7:30 p.m. to allow for the annual fireworks extravaganza after the races.
During the month of March live racing will continue four times weekly on the afternoons of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
“Now that the days are getting longer we will be able to begin our programs a little later in the afternoon and still complete our race cards prior to the darkness,” said Shawn Wiles, the track's assistant general manager.
Simulcast wagering on Thoroughbreds—as well as some other harness tracks--is available during the afternoons while the evenings are largely devoted to harness simulcasts. (Monticello)
