Michael Polansky’s Battleshoe Victor, a 1 ¾-length winner two starts ago and the second-place finisher in this year’s $77,800 Mack Lobell Trotting Series final, headlines a field of nine that will assemble for Monday’s $10,000 Open Trot at Pompano Park.

Trained by Tom Harmer, Battleshoe Victor crossed the wire second in his most recent appearance, and the Illinois-bred son of Valley Victor has finished no worse than third in seven of his eight starts in 2007.

Installed as the 6-5 morning line favorite for Monday’s featured trot, Battleshoe Victor will start from post one with Pompano Park’s leading driver Bruce Ranger at the lines.

Making his seasonal debut in the Monday feature is the 8-year-old gelding Rovasreadytorumble, who hasn’t made a pari-mutuel start since taking a $12,000 Open Trot at Saratoga Raceway on Dec. 15. The son of Veeba Rova closed out his 2006 campaign with $75,261 in seasonal earnings, and is the top money winner in the field with over $284,000 in his career bankroll.

Owned by Trot Time Farm and trained by William Griffin, Rovasreadytorumble has drawn post two for Monday’s trot and will be driven by Wally Hennessey.

The 7-year-old gelding Five Kids has prevailed in two of three starts this year, and enters the Monday feature off a qualifying win in a lifetime best equaling mile of 1:56.2.

Listed as the 3-1 second choice in the morning line, Five Kids will start from post seven for the ownership of Arthur Rudolph and Rudolph Stables Inc., and Bernard Owen, with trainer Tom Haughton at the controls.

Torkil Pedersen’s stakes-winning mare Birminghim will make her first pari-mutuel appearance of 2007 in Monday’s fifth-race trot, a $6,800 non-winners event that has drawn a field of eight.

In her last appearance of 2006, Birminghim finished fifth in the $170,176 Matron final at Dover Downs, closing out a sophomore season where the daughter of Striking Sahbra banked $163,375, despite visiting the winner’s circle just once.

During her juvenile campaign, Birminghim earned $295,338 while prevailing four times, including a trio of Ontario Sire Stakes final victories.

Birminghim qualified over the Pompano Park oval on March 16, winning her heat in 1:58.2 when prevailing by 1 ¾ lengths. The mare is trained by Harald Lunde and will be driven from post three on Monday by Trevor Ritchie. (Pompano Park)
