Pembroke Prayer showed a fondness for the slop Tuesday at The Meadows when he moved strongly through the stretch to capture the $25,000 Preferred Handicap Trot. Pembroke Prayer dueled for the early lead with Dyno Trevor, eventually yielding and settling into the pocket. He had a few anxious moments when the first-over Prism K challenged Dyno Trevor and threatened to pin Pembroke Prayer on the pylons. But Doug Snyder had time and room in the lane to guide Pembroke Prayer to a head victory in 1:57.1. The game Dyno Trevor saved second, with MacDeen Star third. Randy Bendis trains Pembroke Prayer, a 4-year-old gelded son of Like A Prayer-Super Earl, for Bill Varney. Tony Hall drove seven winners on the 15-race card, giving him 12 victories over the last two days. (The Meadows)
