The New Jersey Sire Stakes program kicked off its 2009 Premier Division Friday with a trio of $41,500 events for 3-year-old pacing fillies Friday night at the Meadowlands, and the most impressive effort of the night probably was turned in by Precious Stone [$4.00], who dug in gamely after losing her cover entering the final turn to take the third division over Fancy Pants Sandy in 1:52.3.
Driven by John Campbell, Precious Stone improved her record to five wins in 13 career starts. Brittany Farms and Daisy Acres bred and own the daughter of Western Ideal –Bewitching Jewell. She is trained by Richie Norman. Bulletproof Enterprises’ Showherthemoney [$49.40], also driven by Campbell, inherited the win when Jkmusicofthenite was disqualified in the second sire stakes division. Showherthemoney closed from sixth at the top of the stretch to finish just a nose behind Jkmusicofthenite, who was placed third for interfering with Special Sweetheart in the stretch. Special Sweetheart finished third and was placed second. The race was clocked in 1:51.4. The regally bred Showherthemoney is by Cam’s Card Shark out of the millionairess Stienam’s Place. Trained by Bernie Noren, she was a $50,000 yearling purchase at the Lexington Selected Sale. In the first division, McGibson [$3.00] popped out of the pocket in the stretch and drew off to a four-length win over Arbeedo in 1:53 with Tim Tetrick at the lines. Scarlet Mczara was third. McGibson, trained by Linda Toscano is a daughter of McArdle out of the Artsplace mare Armbro Althea. She was an $18,000 yearling purchase in Harrisburg for the Camelot Stable, The Bay’s Stable and William Jacobwitz. The NJSS for 3-year-old fillies continues with a second leg on May 22 and culminates in a $200,000 championship on Saturday, May 30. (Meadowlands)
