Ron Pierce won with both Just Wait Kate in the $20,000 Three Diamonds Prep and Dawn Ofa New Day in the $20,000 Governor's Cup Prep on Saturday night at the Meadowlands. Just Wait Kate got up in the final stride to win the Three Diamonds Prep by a head over the pacesetting Restive Hanover in 1:53.1. Dawn Ofa New Day drew off a three-quarter length 1:54.3 victory over Voracious Hanover in the Governor's Cup Prep.

"She went (the last quarter) in :26.4. We're going to make a couple of adjustments to help her out next week," said Pierce of Just Like Kate, a full sister to the top 3-year-old filly pacer Kikikatie.

As for Dawn Ofa New Day, "He relaxed in nice and he followed the pace," said Pierce. "I tried to move out and pick up cover, but I couldn't so I kicked him into gear and let him pace around the final turn and he coasted home."

Both preps were non-wagering races conducted prior to the betting card and served as tune-ups for the $200,000 Three Diamonds for two-year-old pacing fillies and the $237,400 Governor's Cup for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings, half of the Fall Final Four stakes on Saturday, Dec. 4. The other pair of events are the trotting divisions, the $228,600 Valley Victory for colts and the $211,800 Goldsmith Maid for fillies.
