Track-record holder Prime Interest continued his recent dominance of the older trotting division at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway on Friday, posting his second straight powerful victory when taking the featured $15,000 Open Trot in 1:56.2. Driven from post five by Frank Coppola Jr., Prime Interest never faced any serious pressure en route to an easy victory, cutting the mile in :28, :57.2, and 1:26.3 before coasting home unchallenged in :29.4 to prevail by 4 3/4 lengths. Eric’s Image (Jay Randall) finished second, while Gelato Man (Brian Allen) crossed the wire third. Owned by Vincent Laurenzo of Clifton Park, and trained by Colin Johnson, Prime Interest is a 12-time winner from 28 seasonal starts, including victories in three of his last four outings, in addition to a 1:55.1 mile in mid-August that set the track record. The son of Self Possessed has amassed $113,840 in earnings during his 2008 campaign, and now boasts a lifetime bankroll in excess of $194,000. (Saratoga)
