July 29, 2014 | Print View

Prince Clyde and Jet Airway were victorious in two $105,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold divisions for three-year-old pacing colts tonight at Mohawk.

The first and fastest division saw a number of lead changes. Boomboom Ballykeel took the field past the opening quarter in :26 but he was soon covered up by Victor Bayama who was overtaken by Silverhill Shadow before the half in :53.3. That colt remained on top by the three-quarters in 1:22.1.

Down the lane Speckled Door took over briefly but in the late going Doug McNair had Prince Clyde rolling and that colt hit the wire first in 1:50.3. Speckled Door held for second while Silverhill Shadow took third.

It was the fourth win in 11 tries this year for Prince Clyde, a son of Camluck trained by Anthony Montini for owners Holland Racing Stable of Niagara on the Lake and Albina Montini of Acton, Ontario.

In the second split Three Of Clubs took the field by the opening quarter in :27.1 and was at the half in :56 and three-quarters in 1:23.3. Down the lane Randy Waples had Jet Airway flying late to reach the wire first in 1:51.2 over Play It Again Sam and Three Of Clubs.

It was the fourth win in 10 starts this year for the Jeremes Jet son trained by Erv Miller who co-owns with Tangie Massey of Florida and Paul Sunderhaus and Larry Agle of Ohio. (Ontario Sires Stakes)
