A solid move around the final turn proved to be the winning potion for Princess Zoie in the $11,000 Open II Pace for fillies and mares on Friday at Hoosier Park. Princess Zoie, under the guidance of driver Trace Tetrick, earned her second win for 2008 in the performance. Starting from the second tier in post 10, Princess Zoie maintained ground the best she could at the beginning, staying in the middle of the pack. Indy Pendent Bay and Joe Putnam led the way through fractions of :26.4, :56.4, and 1:26.3 before being overpowered by Princess Zoie. Princess Zoie paced home in :28.3 to earn the victory in a time of 1:55.1 as the race favorite. Ho Lotta Speed and Joe Essig, Jr. rallied home for second while Irene Hall and Brad Hanners finished third. Owned by Horseman’s Financial Agency and Premier Racing Stable of North Aurora, Ill., Princess Zoie now has 16 career wins in 40 starts. The 4-year-old daughter of Village Juno is trained by Jeff Brewer. (Hoosier Park)
