Print It makes Dover headlines

Return Home
December 02, 2008 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The racing was fast and some payoffs high as Print It, Prince Of Luck and 41-1 shot The Midnight Owl N won the tri-features at Dover Downs on Monday.

Print It led only once, that with his last step, as Eric Goodell piloted The Panderosa-Framed Print gelding to an off-the-pace 1:51.2 victory in the $27,000 Open Pace. Owned by former Minnesota Twins World Series winning manager Tom Kelly, the red Print It won for the third consecutive win and fourth in his last five outings.

Goodell patiently waited while Immortal Quest N, driven by Eddie Davis Jr., and I Ain't No Fool battled down the backstretch before Tim Tetrick finally urged the game I Ain't No Fool to the front and continued to lead until the final stride when Print It got up to win his eighth race of the season. It was the third winner haltered by meet leading trainer Josh Green. Winbak Speed (Brandon Givens) also showed good late speed to finish third.

Prince Of Luck scored a gallant 1:51.4 triumph in a $22,000 winners-over pace. Seemingly passed by White Hot Cards (Ron Pierce) entering the last turn, along the inside, Givens kept going and after entering the homestretch Prince Of Luck recaptured the front and registered the victory. Bonnie Allen and Brenda Harper own the Camluck-Samantha Snow gelding. Commander Turk N (Corey Callahan) picked up third place.

A 31-1 shot, but not the longest price on the card, The Midnight Owl N squeezed through at the wire for Jonathan Roberts to catch and edge Eoos and Pierce in a 1:52.3 mile to win a $22,000 winners-over pace. Owned and trained by Peter Tritton, The Midnight Owl N was a winner in his previous start last Monday. Classic Cullen N (Mike Cole) took show money. (Dover Downs)
