Pro Art scored a narrow 1:53.4 decision in Friday night's lone $17,000 division in the opening leg of the Count B Pacing Series Friday night at Woodbine Racetrack.
What was to be a field of 11 was reduced to 10 with the late scratch of Scottery Tickets and Jack Moiseyev, driving Pro Art, took full advantage by sending his charge straight to the front and controlling all the fractions.
Pro Art, a gelded son of Artsplace-Town Pro, faced no pressure through an opening half of :56.3 and eventually faced his first challenge from slight favorite Silver Dragon in the third quarter. That rival was unable to get past the wheel of Pro Art who put up three panels in
1:25.1. As the field turned for home, Pro Art disposed of Silver Dragon, but then had longshot Jusluky George and Nanuets Z Tam closing fast. At the finish, Pro Art was able to hold off the closers by just a neck for his second win in only three tries this season.
The two victories double the entire win output of last season for the Mark Ford trainee. He now sits with just over $70,000 earned for owners Dean Davis and James Snyder of Wooster, Ohio, who bought the horse at last November's Harrisburg mixed sale.. (Woodbine)
